Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 24, 2026

We wrote this policy to explain, in plain language, how Kwotebook ("Kwotebook," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Kwotebook mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. SCOPE AND WHO WE ARE

Kwotebook is the operator of the Service and the controller of personal information described in this policy. This policy applies to information processed by Kwotebook through the Service. Third-party services have their own privacy practices, which are described below where relevant.

2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account and authentication information

We collect your name, username or handle, tagline or biography, email address, and any optional profile details you provide. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique account identifier and the profile information you authorize that provider to share, such as your name, email address, or profile image. If you use email-based sign-in, our authentication provider securely processes your credentials; Kwotebook does not store your password in plain text.

Your content

We store the quotes, attributed speaker names, books, dates, context, tags, vibes, descriptions, and other content you add to Kwotebook. Your content may include information about other people, so you should only add or share it when you have the right to do so.

Friends, invitations, and shared books

We store friend requests, accepted friendships, invitations, and relationships between accounts and shared Kwotebooks so those features can work.

Contacts

If you choose Add from Contacts, Kwotebook reads contact information locally on your device to help identify people you may know. Contact names are not uploaded to or stored on Kwotebook servers. You may revoke contact access at any time in your device settings.

Usage, device, and diagnostic information

We and our service providers may collect limited technical information such as app opens, feature usage, app and operating-system version, device or browser type, IP address, diagnostic data, and interactions with advertisements. Website hosting providers may also create standard request and security logs.

Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we process your notification preferences and a device token so we can send the notifications you choose to receive.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive limited purchase and subscription information, such as product, transaction, receipt, and entitlement status, to provide paid features. We do not receive or store your full payment-card information.

3. INFORMATION WE DO NOT SELL OR USE FOR BEHAVIORAL ADVERTISING

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your quotes or profile information to target advertising. We do not request or collect your precise location. Service providers may infer a general area from an IP address for security, localization, or contextual advertising.

4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use information to:

  • Create, authenticate, and maintain your account.
  • Store and display your books, quotes, friends, invitations, and shared content.
  • Sync content and provide features you request.
  • Process subscription status and provide purchased features.
  • Send notifications you have chosen to receive.
  • Provide support and respond to privacy requests.
  • Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve the Service.
  • Provide limited, non-personalized or contextual rewarded advertisements on the free tier.
  • Prevent fraud, enforce our Terms of Use, and comply with legal obligations.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you to understand and improve the Service.

5. WHEN INFORMATION IS DISCLOSED

Other users

Your content is visible to other users when you deliberately invite them to a shared Kwotebook or otherwise choose to share it. Profile information may be visible where needed for account discovery, friends, invitations, and collaboration.

Service providers

We disclose only the information reasonably needed by vendors that host data, authenticate accounts, process subscriptions, deliver notifications, serve ads, provide website infrastructure, or help secure and operate the Service. They process information for us under their applicable terms and privacy practices.

Legal, safety, and business reasons

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request, protect the rights and safety of users or the public, investigate fraud or security issues, enforce our terms, or complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. If ownership of the Service changes, the recipient must handle personal information consistently with this policy unless law permits otherwise.

6. KEY SERVICE PROVIDERS AND GOOGLE DATA

Supabase and Amazon Web Services

We use Supabase for authentication, database, and related infrastructure hosted through Amazon Web Services in the United States. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Apple

Apple processes Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, and platform services. Apple's privacy policy is available at apple.com/legal/privacy.

Google Sign-In

If you choose Google Sign-In, Kwotebook accesses the Google account identifier and profile information you authorize, such as your name, email address, and profile image. We use this information only to authenticate you, create and maintain your Kwotebook account, provide your profile, prevent abuse, and support you. We store the account information needed for those purposes with our infrastructure providers and do not use Google user data for advertising. We disclose it only as described in this policy. Kwotebook's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google AdMob

Kwotebook may show limited rewarded ads on the free tier through Google AdMob. We request non-personalized or contextual ads and do not permit cross-app behavioral targeting. Google may still process limited technical information—including IP address, device or advertising identifiers, app and ad interactions, and a general location inferred from IP—to deliver ads, limit repetition, produce aggregated reports, and prevent fraud. Premium subscribers do not see ads. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

7. STORAGE, SECURITY, AND INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING

Kwotebook's systems are hosted in the United States. If you use the Service elsewhere, information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ. We use HTTPS/TLS in transit and access controls such as Supabase Row Level Security to limit access to authorized information. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

We retain account information and content while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can delete individual quotes or books in the App. To delete your account, go to Profile > Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent, and account information and associated content are deleted from active systems within 30 days. Limited information may remain longer in protected backups or where needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute resolution, and is deleted or isolated according to applicable retention schedules. Third-party providers may retain information under their own policies and legal obligations.

9. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

You can view and correct much of your account information in the App. You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a decision, or complain to a privacy regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right and may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

You can revoke Contacts or Notifications permission in device settings, manage advertising choices through device and in-app controls, and revoke Kwotebook's Google access in your Google Account. Revoking a sign-in connection does not itself delete your Kwotebook account; use Profile > Delete Account or contact us to request deletion.

10. LEGAL BASES FOR CERTAIN USERS

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you and provide the Service, based on your consent, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as securing, supporting, and improving the Service where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Kwotebook is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not use the Service. You must also meet any higher minimum age required to consent to data processing in your location. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must authorize your use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law. If you believe a child provided information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

12. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as Kwotebook evolves. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use personal information, we will provide notice through the App, on the website, by email, or another reasonable method before the change takes effect where required. The current policy will always identify its effective date.
